
![]() CEA CHAIRMAN APPOINTED TO U.S. NAVAL ACADEMY BOARD March 6, 2008. The White House has announced the appointment of Communications Equity Associates ("CEA") Founder and Chairman, J. Patrick "Rick" Michaels, Jr., to the United States Naval Academy Board of Visitors. Also appointed by the President are the Honorable Nancy L. Johnson, Ambassador Anthony Principi and Michael R. Hightower. Michaels, a member of the Board of the Cable Center also serves on the North American Advisory Board of the London School of Economics, the Advisory Board of the Annenberg School of Communications at the University of Pennsylvania, and is a former member of the Board of Trustees of St. Leo University. "I am appreciative of the opportunity to serve our country and the Naval Academy in its pursuit of leadership and academic excellence. The role of the United States Navy is rapidly changing and the need to have outstanding leadership with an understanding of the dynamics of technological change from the 21st Century is critical", stated Rick Michaels. The duty of the Naval Academy's Board of Visitors is to inquire into the state of morale and discipline, the curriculum, instruction, physical equipment, fiscal affairs, academic methods, and other matters relating to the Academy. This board functions as the equivalent of a University's Board of Trustees. The Naval Academy Board consists of members appointed by the President, Vice President, Speaker of the House, U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee and the U.S. House Committee on National Security. The President receives an annual written report of the board's findings and recommendations.
